The President of Turkmenistan received Special Advisor to the Prime Minister of Japan
On February 5, 2025, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov received Special Advisor to the Prime Minister of Japan Akihisa Nagashima.
Expressing gratitude to the head of state for the time allocated for the meeting, Akihisa Nagashima conveyed greetings and best wishes from Emperor Naruhito of Japan and Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba and noted that Japan highly appreciates Turkmenistan’s achievements in all spheres.
Warmly welcoming the guest, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov addressed his best wishes to Emperor Naruhito and Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba. The head of state expressed confidence that the meetings to be held during the guest’s visit would provide an opportunity to discuss issues of bilateral cooperation, which would contribute to enriching Turkmen-Japanese relations with new content.
It was noted that Turkmenistan pays special attention to comprehensively enhancing interaction with Japan in the Asia-Pacific region. The countries successfully cooperate both in bilateral and multilateral formats. In this regard, the importance of the «Central Asia + Japan Dialogue» has been particularly stressed.
President Serdar Berdimuhamedov wished a successful holding of the first Summit of Heads of State of the «Central Asia + Japan Dialogue», noting that this format is a good platform for the development of bilateral and regional cooperation in various areas.
As emphasised, Turkmen-Japanese relations cover political- diplomatic, trade-economic, social, cultural-humanitarian and other spheres. The Turkmen-Japan and Japan-Turkmen Committees on Economic Cooperation play an important role in their development.
«As you know, Japan will host the EXPO 2025 World Exhibition in April this year. Turkmenistan also voted in favour of holding it in a friendly country. Having shown great interest in participating in the World Exhibition, we have established a special Organising Committee and are currently carrying out relevant preparatory activities» President Serdar Berdimuhamedov said. Taking this opportunity, the Head of State wished EXPO 2025 a success.
In this regard, Mr. Akihisa Nagashima said that Japan expects a high-level delegation from Turkmenistan to participate in the World Expo.
At the end of the meeting, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov confirmed Turkmenistan’s readiness to further develop Turkmen-Japanese cooperation and wished Special Advisor to the Prime Minister of Japan Akihisa Nagashima good health and success in his work.
