THE SUCCESSIVE SESSION OF THE INTER-DEPARTMENTAL COMMISSION OF TURKMENISTAN ON THE ISSUES OF THE CASPIAN SEA WAS HELD

On the 30th of January, 2021, the successive session of the Inter-departmental Commission of Turkmenistan on the issues of the Caspian Sea was held in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

The corresponding Deputy Chairmen of the Cabinet of Ministers, heads of relevant ministries and profile departments of Turkmenistan took part in the session. 

The results of the activities held in the previous 2020 year were discussed at the session.  Also, the priority courses of action were determined for the current year. 

One of the main topics of discussion was the preparation to the Sixth Caspian Summit to be held in Turkmenistan. The Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan R.Meredov noted that under wise leadership of the President of Turkmenistan, the country holds active position in the development of balanced resolutions of the Caspian issues.  It was stated that Turkmenistan played an important role in the development of legal-contractual foundation of cooperation on the Caspian Sea and this process is continuing in collaboration with all the Caspian states in the framework of international law, taking into consideration the ecological component.    

Other issues related to the activities of Turkmenistan on the Caspian, including those which are carried out in cooperation with Caspian states and regional organizations were discussed at the session.  The importance of this collaboration was emphasized from the standpoint of developing transport-transit communication and economic integration.
