PRESIDENT OF TURKMENISTAN AND PRESIDENT OF RUSSIA HAD A TELEPHONE CONVERSATION

On the 7th of October 2020, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov had a telephone conversation with President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin.

The Turkmen leader cordially congratulated his Russian colleague on his birthday and wished him good health, prosperity, new successes in all undertakings and aspirations for the benefit of the people of the friendly state.

The President of Turkmenistan underlined that at present, bilateral relations based on the principles of good neighborliness, mutual trust and strategic partnership acquired an increasingly dynamic and progressive character.

 In this regard, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov expressed sincere gratitude to President Vladimir Putin for his personal attention and support to the Turkmen-Russian cooperation, which plays a special role in its success and further development.

Thanking for congratulations and warm words, the President of Russia expressed satisfaction with the constructive nature of the interstate dialogue, based on the invariable goodwill of the parties.

Continuing the telephone conversation, the interlocutors discussed the priority issues of the Turkmen-Russian cooperation, which is successfully developing in a wide range of areas. Thus, trade and economic ties demonstrate positive dynamics, to a wide extent due to the joint Intergovernmental Commission.

The leaders of the two states emphasized the importance to encourage contacts between various departments and private structures of Turkmenistan and Russia for the further expansion of mutually beneficial partnership.

It was also emphasized that traditional cooperation in the humanitarian field is actively developing, including through science, education and culture, which is an important factor in bringing the peoples of the two states closer together, strengthening the ties of friendship and mutual understanding between them.

At the same time, there are great opportunities for building up cooperation in the fields of healthcare and pharmaceuticals. As the Turkmen leader noted, our country welcomed the latest achievements of Russian scientists in developing coronavirus vaccine and counted on cooperation with Russia in this area.

Exchanging views on important issues of regional and international problems, the leaders of the two states focused on cooperation in the format of a five-sided political dialogue of the Caspian countries. In August 2018, the leaders of the Caspian littoral states agreed to hold the sixth Caspian Summit in Turkmenistan.

In this regard, it was emphasized that the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the Caspian littoral states had prepared for the summit.

During the conversation, the Turkmen leader invited his Russian counterpart to visit Turkmenistan at any time convenient for him.

 At the end of the telephone conversation, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President Vladimir Putin wished each other good health and success in responsible state activities, and peace and prosperity to the friendly peoples of both countries.
