TURKMENISTAN AND UAE DISCUSSED THE ISSUES ON EXPANDING MUTUALLY BENEFICIAL COOPERATION

On May 13, 2020, consultations in digital videoconference format between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the United Arab Emirates were held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.  The Turkmen delegation was headed by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs B.Matiyev. The delegation of the UAE was led by the Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation for Political Affairs Khalifa Shaheen Khalifa Almarar.    

During the talks, the parties discussed current issues of political-diplomatic, trade-economic and cultural-humanitarian cooperation between the two countries. It was noted that the organization of high-level meetings serves as an effective mechanism in the development of relations. 

 Noting the active multilateral cooperation between Turkmenistan and the UAE, diplomats noted the positive cooperation of the two countries within the framework of international organizations, in particular the UN. In addition, issues were discussed on expanding the legal-regulatory basis of the two states.

The initiatives of the President of Turkmenistan put forward in the international arena to overcome the effects of the pandemic in the region and in the world were also highlighted.

Speaking about trade and economic cooperation, the parties noted the positive potential for expanding cooperation in this direction and discussed the importance of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Emirate Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation.

Noting that the expansion of cultural and humanitarian ties between the two countries is of particular importance, the parties expressed interest in further strengthening cooperation in this area.
